Judge Colston’s style is effective with the most difficult cases and parties.

Judge Colston graduated from Georgia State Law School and went into private practice where she handled real estate law, probate law, domestic relations and railroad law.  Judge Colston argued Easterwood v. CSX Railroad in the United States Supreme Court just two years after graduating.  She also practiced employment law and has taught employers how to avoid running afoul of employment issues.

Judge Colston was elected District Attorney for the Rome Judicial Circuit in 1996 and remained in office until appointed to the Superior Court in 2001.  While on the bench, Judge Colston presided over every type of case and has a unique insight into how juries and judges perceive people and legal positions.

Judge Colston was appointed by the Governor as a Senior Judge in 2019.  She often fills in for the Cobb County Superior Court, as well as Pickens County, Floyd County, Gilmer County, Gordon County and Whitfield County.  This background makes Judge Colston the best candidate for Judicially Hosted Settlement Conferences and in Mediations where the parties will benefit from her candid insight drawn from years of experience.
